Komet Sale Alert — About our crawler

Last updated: 21 September 2026

KometBot is the automated program run by Komet Sale Alert (Ecom Applications Pty Ltd, Western Australia). Komet is a shopping app that tells Australian shoppers when a brand they follow goes on sale or an item they saved drops in price — and sends them to your store to buy it.

What it does

Reads the public product listing of stores Komet tracks (on Shopify stores, /products.json and individual product pages) to keep prices, sizes and availability up to date.
Identifies itself on every request as Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; KometBot/1.0; +https://komet-sale-alert-admin.vercel.app/bot.html).
Obeys robots.txt. To control it, add rules for the user agent KometBot.
Goes easy: a full listing refresh per store about twice a day, followed items a few times a day, and it stops for the rest of a run if your store answers 429 or 503.
Does not log in, add to cart, check out, or read anything that is not public. Product images are displayed from your own servers, not copied.

Opting out, corrections and partnerships

Komet sends shoppers to your site at the moment they are most likely to buy, at no cost to you. If you would still rather not be included, want something corrected or removed (including your logo), or would like to talk about working together, email hello@kometapp.com from an address at your store's domain and we will act on it promptly.
